IGET puff counts explained: what 3,500 really means

How the number on the box is measured, why you will get fewer, and how to turn a puff count into days and dollars.

Where the number comes from

Every IGET device sells on one figure, the puff count, and it is the most misread number in the category. The count on the box is not a promise of how many times you will inhale. It is the result of a standard laboratory measurement: a machine draws on the device for a fixed period, usually two seconds, waits, and draws again, until the liquid is exhausted or the battery gives out. The total number of machine draws is the puff count.

That method is consistent, which is why it is useful for comparing one device with another. A 10,000-puff IGET Bar Pro really does hold roughly three times the usable liquid of a 3,500-puff IGET Bar. What the method is not is a description of how anyone actually vapes.

Why you get fewer

People draw for longer than two seconds, particularly in the first days of switching from cigarettes. A longer draw vaporises more liquid per puff, so the same reservoir delivers fewer puffs. Chain vaping, taking several draws in quick succession, heats the coil more than the test does and uses liquid faster still. Cold weather thickens the liquid and dulls the flavour, so people tend to draw harder to compensate.

Put together, those habits take 10 to 20 percent off the box figure. We use 14 percent as a working rule: an IGET Bar rated at 3,500 puffs lands near 3,000; a Bar Pro at 10,000 lands near 8,600; an IGET One at 12,000 near 10,300. If you take short, gentle draws you will beat those numbers. If you vape the way most ex-smokers do in their first month, you will not.

Turning puffs into days

The conversion that matters is puffs per day. A light vaper, someone replacing a few cigarettes, is typically around 100 to 150 puffs a day. A moderate vaper who has replaced a pack a day is closer to 250. A heavy, all-day vaper can pass 400. Take the realistic count for a device and divide by your number.

On that basis an IGET XXL at 1,800 rated puffs is three to five days for a moderate vaper. The IGET Bar is one to two weeks. The 5,000-puff group, the Goat, Moon, B5000 and Hot, is two to three weeks. The Bar Pro and Flare at 10,000 are about a month, the IGET One at 12,000 about five weeks, and the WALA at 18,000 closer to two months. Those are the figures to plan a budget around, not the ones on the box.

Turning puffs into dollars

Price per 1,000 puffs is the cleanest way to compare devices, because it strips out the size difference. Using current prices on this site: the IGET Bar works out at about $7.14 per 1,000 puffs, the IGET Goat at $6.99, the IGET Bar Pro at $4.80 and the IGET One at $2.92. The pattern holds across the whole range: the more puffs in one device, the less each puff costs, because you are buying one battery and one shell instead of several.

For a moderate vaper on about 7,500 puffs a month, that means roughly $53.57 a month on IGET Bars against $36.00 on Bar Pros or $21.88 on IGET Ones. The difference over a year is several hundred dollars.

When a bigger count is the wrong choice

A higher puff count is not automatically better. A 12,000-puff device locks you into one flavour for five weeks, and flavour fatigue is real: the profile you loved on day one can be tiresome by week four. Large devices are also bulkier, and the up-front price is higher even though the per-puff price is lower.

A sensible approach is to use small devices, the XXL, King or Bar, to find the two or three flavours you genuinely come back to, then buy those in a Bar Pro or IGET One. Everything on this site lists its puff count and nicotine strength on the listing itself, so you can make that comparison before anything goes in the cart.
